(Voice of the Persecuted) It has been brought to our attention that the mother of imprisoned Iranian Christian, Ibrahim Firouzi is in the hospital with cancer that has spread to her brain.  VOCIR shared in a report that after her son converted to Christianity, he was arrested on August 25, 2013 and convicted of evangelizing, colluding with “anti-regime” foreign networks, launching a Christian website, and in short, working against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Although his prison term was supposed to end on January 13, 2015, authorities continued holding him illegally, and on March 8 sentenced him to serve another five years “in very difficult conditions.”

According to the report, on July/12/2016, Ibrahim Firouzi was beaten by prison officials before being transferred to the Appeals Court. His arm is now damaged from the hand to elbow.
His mother has strongly advocated for Firouzi. Sick with cancer, blind and alone, she desperately pleaded that attention to be brought to her son’s case and for his release. See video with English subtitles here.
Our hearts break not only for this mother, but for her son who has not seen her since his imprisonment. This is the fate of those who choose to follow and not deny Christ in Iran, one of the world’s top human rights abusers. Firouzi’s mother is fighting for her life. Who will be his voice? Who will stand in the gap for them and other suffering Iranian Christians, share their stories and pray?
Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act. – Dietrich Bonhoeffer
As the Church, we must do more for our brothers and sisters suffering for Christ. Persecution of our brothers and sisters continues to rise. It’s hard not to recognize what season we are in. Speak out, lives are at stake and there’s no time left to waste and be silent.  We must encourage one another to gather in prayer for the persecuted, the weakest members of the Body of Christ. Talk to your pastors, fellow church members and prayer partners. Let us commit to get on our knees before the Lord purposely interceding on their behalf. Learn what’s taking place and stay informed.

Will you pray, today?

Father, we lift our dear sister so sick with cancer and suffering deep heartbreak. Please comfort her and ease her pain. Heal her broken heart and give her peace. Bring those who will surround her with love and hearts to care. Father, we pray there is a way for her to be reunited with her son—one faithfully carrying his cross while bound and broken on account of Christ. Almighty Father, we know all things are possible through Christ our Lord. In His name, we ask for his wounds to be healed, chains to be broken, prison doors opened and freedom from his dark prison cell. May all plans of the wicked be brought down. Softened the hearts of Iranian officials towards our brothers and sisters. We lift the nation of Iran to Your throne. We thank you, Father for the rapid expansion of faith in Christ seen spreading throughout Iran, today. May Your Gospel go boldly forth and be heard by all Iranian people.  Father, hear the cries of Your faithful and our prayers on their behalf. We trust in Your perfect plan for us and in the nation of Iran. May all that is done bring praise and glory to You, forever and ever. In Christ our Lord, we pray. Amen
