Pray for Burma (Myanmar)

The two Chin Baptist teachers raped and murdered by Burmese soldiers.

I’m sure you remember the news from November last year – after years of dedicated campaigning in the face of severe opposition, Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy (NLD) party was elected to become the new government of Burma. We’re so excited about what the future holds for this South East Asian nation, and we want to thank you for your tireless work in campaigning right alongside us for justice and freedom in Burma.

But, winning is just the beginning! We need you to keep praying for Burma as the country faces a critical time of transition.

Burma’s new government faces many challenges in the months and years ahead:

  • Because she has children with British passports, Aung San Suu Kyi is legally unable to become Burma’s new President (even though she leads the party that was elected to power).
  • The military still get 25% of the seats in the new Parliament, and control three key ministerial appointments.
  • The NLD will also have to find a solution to years of ethnic conflict and a rising trend of religious intolerance, including restrictive laws put in place by the military.

Will you join with us in our special online prayer event?

We’re dedicating the week of 7-13 March to pray for Burma at this crucial time. God has already answered our prayers for change in Burma – imagine how much more he’s going to do if we keep praying! You’ll receive a daily email during the week of prayer with Burma-specific prayer points so you can pray even more effectively.

Sign up be part of our week of prayer today!

We have already seen how powerful and effective your prayers can be: we can’t wait to see how God will answer them this time!
