Widows and orphans.

James, under the inspiration of the Spirit states,”Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world (James 1:27).

Scripture has much to say about widows; to send widows away without meeting their needs would be sinful (Job 22:9), God is a judge to them (Psalm 68:5), God calls them to trust in him (Jer.49:11). It was neglect of the Greek widows that led to the appointment of the first deacons in the N.T. church (Acts 6:1), they are to be honoured and the godly among them do trust in God (I Tim.5:3-5). This site has the story of many widows in Kenya, Cameroon, Tanzania, C.A.R., and Colombia-look them up by name and do remember them!
