The conflict between government forces and Islamic rebel groups in northern Mali has left Christians vulnerable to persecution, especially Christian converts from Islam. Medical workers and other aid organizations have left the area, travel is difficult, and resources are few, leaving many hungry and sick. Government forces deliver humanitarian aid to Muslims first and often have nothing left for Christians. In addition to facing discrimination by the government, Christian converts from Islam are threatened by family members and often must flee for their lives.
